Bio

I’m a YA writer from Belfast, published by Walker Books.

My debut novel, Flying Tips for Flightless Birds, won an unprecedented hat-trick of awards from Children’s Books Ireland, including Book of the Year. It also won the Northern Ireland Book Award and was nominated for the Carnegie Medal.

My second book, Little Bang, was released in 2024 and won the Children’s Books Ireland Junior Juries’ Award and the Children’s Books Ireland Honour Award for Fiction. It was also shortlisted for the Carnegie Medal as well as being longlisted for the UKLA Book Awards, and is an Empathy Lab ‘Reads for Empathy Collection’ Choice.

I was the QUB Children’s Writing Fellow for NI 2019-21. I also volunteer with Fighting Words NI as a mentor for their teen writer’s group, Write Club, and I am passionate about the benefits of creativity for young people.

I love hearing from readers and reviewers and I’m always happy to do a Q&A, interview or article, just get in touch!
